Iroha-uta is poem which is used in all (old)Japanese hira-gana.

(written in all hiragana)
いろはにほへと ちりぬるを
わかよたれそ つねならむ
うゐのおくやま けふこえて
あさきゆめみし ゑひもせす ん

(witten in kanji)
色は匂へど 散りぬるを
我が世誰ぞ 常ならむ
有為の奥山 今日越えて
浅き夢見じ 酔ひもせず ん

(*old Japanese words and grammer)
*ゐ(wi) ゑ(we)

*にほふ,匂ふ(Nihohu)>read (Niou)
*有為、うゐ(uwi)>read (Ui).means transience
*ゑひ、酔ひ(wehi)>read(yoi)
*ん(n)>means "end"

(meanings)
As flowers are brilliant but (inevitably) fall,
who could remain constant in our world? (No one could)
Today let us transcend the high mountain of transience,
and there will be no more shallow dreaming, no more drunkenness.

It is so famous porm in japan.
Do you like this poem?Do you know other poem used all hiragana-word?
Do your country have poem like that?

I like japanese poems (little poems, even if it's a one sentence(?) - I still like it because I can think about something else...
Jump off from the realityor something like that.
There are (ok let's call them) 'poems' on our notes here in poland, but they are writen in kanji - and I'm not sure if are translated very well <(^_^)"

Good job anyway! I hope you'll post something else soon.

hehe It was so difficult to make it.
before having made "Irohauta",there were used some "poems" to learn japanese kana.

ex,tawini-no-uta 大為爾の歌(たゐにのうた)

(written by manyo-gana,not kanji^^;; )

大為爾伊天 奈従武和礼遠曽
支美女須土 安佐利於比由久
也末之呂乃 宇知恵倍留古良
毛波保世与 衣不弥加計奴*无

(written by Hira-gana)
たゐにいて なつむわれをそ
きみめすと あさりおひゆく
やましろの うちゑへるこら
もはほせよ えふねかけぬ*ん

(written by kanji)
田居に出で 菜摘む我をぞ (I am going rise-field.picking greens)
君召すと 求食り追ひゆく(you call (me) than. want food and chase)
山城の 打酔へる子ら((Please)drank children of mountain-castle)
藻葉干せよ え舟繋けぬ((take away and)make dry the algae,(or we) can't be fasten our ship)

but..It is very strange meanings^^;;
Japanese like 5-7-5-7-.....poems.hehe
By the way,the peason who made irohauta is very claver,It's called cipher.Read all 7th word.

いろはにほへ
ちりぬるをわ
よたれそつね
らむうゐのお
やまけふこえ
あさきゆめみ
ゑひもせ

to,ka,na,ku,te,shi,su=(罪無くて死す。)means(I will be killed by innocence)hehe..^^;;

I was very poor in Classic Japanese古文 and Classic Chinise漢文 when I was in High school. Razz
That's why I read "Asaki Yume Mishi" instead to read original "Genji Monogatari". That was very helpful for me to understand Genji Monogatari.

>Do you know something more about Classic Japanese?
I learned it but almost forget. I still remember some but not much. Sad May be you know more than me Very Happy

Do u know "Kaze no tani no Nausicaa"'s idea came from "Konjyaku Mongatari"? Director Miyazaki said that in one interview. "Mushi mezuru himegimi" was one of the source of Nausicaa. Idea
