Shintoism

Hi everyone ^.^

Since i played "Project Zero" i want to know more about the Ancient Religion of Japan: Shintoism.

I know that the Buddhism is more spreaded today but maybe some people know about the old Shinto-Rituals or believes...

If somebody knows anything let me know ^^

If you are enough very easy explanation, I can explain to you
"the Buddhism is more spreaded today"
not so much here in Japan. We still have some influences by Shintoism
Shintoism is a kind of animism.
very different from "One God religion" like Christianity, Islam, etc.
There are many kind of God. like "God of fire" " God of sun" etc.
Most famous God is "AMATERASU OOMI KAMI", I think.
And there are many stories and denominations.

"OTERA""お寺" = temple = buddism
"JINJYA""神社"　= shrine = Shintoism

Most of japanese go to shrine every first day of a new year("元旦""gantan")
and celebrate the day by shintoism style.I mean "OSECHI RYOURI" "KADOMATSU" etc.
Some of japanese marrige by Sintoism style.
Most of japanese marrige by Christian style.
Most of japanese celebrate Christmas and Valentine's Day very showily.
Most of japanese are buried by Buddism style.

i love Japanese culture, then going to shrine every first day of a new year seem so cool for me i'd love do it nice topic ^^

Jan. 1st 2nd 3rd are called "oshougatsu""お正月" in japanese
to go to shrine is called "hatsumoude""初詣"
